I was sitting in the library one winter's afternoon and idly noticed a group of girls, bored and restless, at the next table.
Suddenly the sun burst through the windows. I looked up and within the glare ne of the girls was transformed , her head perched on her shoulders like a bird.
Amnd I knew that to make any sense of it, I had to draw.
She became my first model,. Her features had the clenched, knowing eyes of a working class girl.
